The Waverley

Officially summer is here.   Not by virtue of the weather as I fear the week at the end of May might well have been it.  No  - I know that summer has arrived when I see the Waverley Steamer making its way up and down the Firth of Clyde.

  1. hello Celia:
And, what a splendid vessel the Waverley steamer looks to be!

When we lived in London our apartment was in a building on the banks of the Thames and, like you, one knew that summer had come by the pleasure boats which made their seasonal appearance. We were particularly pleased when the 'Dixie Queen' paddle steamer and her jolly cruisers came out to play!!

    1. On my to do list is to take a trip round the islands on this. As I'm informed that a very merry time can be had.

There was a worry last year about funding to see it through the winter 'dry dock' however all has turned out well.

  2. Would I have seen this when I visited Glasgow years ago ? I'm sure my Scottish friend...who taught me words such as drookit and oxter taked about the Waverley Steamer. It looks so beautiful, timeless....
